Digital Scrapbooking Day 2012

This has been a busy and sad week, so it was great to be able to have an excuse and create this weekend. Time to let the dust just settle where it may and catch up on some of my projects. I am still hoping to finish some books for Christmas giving, although time is running out.

So here is my first creation. It is Halloween 2011 and Jessica and Erik ready to go trick or treating. We will be seeing the kids tomorrow for Erik's sixth birthday, and maybe I will get some photos from THIS year's Halloween festivities.

The template is actually from this week's Photoshop Friday lesson at Jessica Sprague. The papers are from Aimee Harrison's Vintage Spook, with a few elements from Echo Park and Quirky Twerp.

The next page shows last week's piles of leaves - WOW! Autumn is my favorite season - excpt for the "fall" part of it.

 

For this layout, I used the Charming Autumn kit by Designs by Brigit and a template by Katie Pertiet at Designer Digitals.

 

 

This next page shows some photos Dave took while playing golf a few weeks ago. The golfer is my father-in-law Jack.

 

This layout uses another kit by Aimee Harrison called Autumn Beauty.

 



Sparkly Skater

Hello - long time, no see!  It is time for our first Monthly Maniac Challenge, and a wonderful thing too since I have obviously been neglecting my blog.  The Monthly Maniacs are a group of gals who formerly designed for Paper Maniac.  We decided a fun way to keep in touch, was to participate in a monthly challenge.   

Every month someone new will provide a challenge to the rest of the group. 

This month’s challenge is SNOW. This is just kind of ironic because living in Minnesota, one would think there had been plenty of it. But other than a faint dusting now and again, we have had NONE of the white stuff!

 My card is based on last week's SCS challenge. I used an older Whipper Snapper stamp that I have in my stash. I have set a goal this year to "Use it or Lose It!" and I always thought this stamp was cute. I made the card in 5" x 7" since the image was so big and I wanted to have room for the designer paper. It is colored with Copics and glittered with Stickles. The pom pom, as well as the patterned paper, is from My Little Bicycle's Winter Twig collection. The card stock is from Memory Box. The snow flakes at the bottom are from various punches and odds and ends in my stash. Finally, the ribbon is from May Arts.


Please pardon the scan. I have my camera still packed in a suitcase from a recent trip and it seems I can't quite find it. I guess what I know what I will be doing the rest of the day - laundry!

A Pair of Berries

For the first time this year, we grew berries in our backyard garden. Yum. The best thing about summer is fresh local berries, and you can't get more local than the back yard! Here is a photo of our first few blueberries and strawberries.

This was the inspiration for a set of cards I am working on. I finished the blueberries and raspberries today.

I am hoping to add other fruits from my vast collection of Flourishes stamps over the next few days. Believe it or not, I couldn't find the paper I had in mond from the dozens of paper pads I have on hand, so I printed out some digital papers on XPress cardstock. It worked great.

Off I go to bed. Another work week starts tomorrow. It's tough getting used to a regular job with regular hours and commuting traffic. I rather be crafting, but I guess I need some way to support this habit.

Scrapbook Sunday and a Reminder

Here it is - Sunday again. Really, I DID make some cards this week, but let's get to the reminder and you'll understand why there were no posts this week.

TODAY is Paper Maniac's LAST day in business. Everything is 80% off. I think we went from over 3,000 items at one point to just 53 left. We (that means ME really) have been packing like crazy after work each day and are finally caught up. If you want something at a great bargain - think stocking stuffers and hostess gifts) hurry over to the store before it's too late.

So here's the Sunday scrapbook page, which I did for the digital scrapbook challenge over on Splitcoast. The challenge was to use at least 5 different patterned papers, a cluster and some journaling on the page. This is my gorgeous niece (and goddaughter) in her Halloween costume last year.

She picked out all the elements of her costume. Don't you love the whimsical high tops? Cracks me up every time. I think I should have recolored the followers she was holding to blend in with the papers better, but I guess it's OK.

Thanks for looking. I am rushing off now to see how many of the Dirty Girls challenges I can get done while Dave is off golfing in the heat and humidity. You should see some of those cards in the days ahead!

Scrapbook Sunday

"Scrapbook Sunday" isn't a REAL day, but it does have a certain ring to it. Maybe I should set that as a goal and maybe I can catch up on some of my scrapbooking pages too. So welcome to the first scrapbook Sunday.

As you may or may not know, I do most of my scrapbooking digitally. It started in 2008 when we went on a super trip to Scandinavia with my in-laws and I wanted to make them a scrapbook too. I sure didn't want to make two of each page, so I gave digital a try and just love it. So cards are paper and scrapbook pages are digital.

Anyway, here is a little page to remember our courageous pansy who is flourishing in the most unlikely place.

I still cannot believe a single pansy seed survived the Minnesota winter.

Jumpstarting My Mojo

Happy Saturday. Minnesota finally decided to go back to work last Thursday. It sure was good to get back, but after 3 weeks of being shutdown, there sure was a lot to do - and will be for awhile.

I had a very long crafting dry spell and wasn't doing much creating, but I sure continued with the collecting! There are many stamps awaiting ink and many papers waiting to be cut into. Like all the work waiting at my job after shutdown, I had a hard time figuring out where to start.

Then I discovered the card kits by Freehand Scraps, which awoke all the juices again. Here are two cards from the May kit.

Both of these cards are almost entirely as included in the kit, but I added the tri-colored string on the kite and stamped the sentiment from one of my Papertrey Ink sets. (Up and Away additions I think)

This card is also pretty well "out of the box" except for the stamped PTI sentiment (Boards and Beams)

Don't you love that ruffled ribbon? I learned something new in doing the ruffles.

I loved how these cards came out and it really did jumpstart my mojo. I am looking forward to making some of my own creations this weekend, so I hope you will come back and visit again. Maybe I will even get the blog decoration done too if it's as rainy as it's supposed to be. Who needs to do housework anyway?

My First Post on My New Blog!

Since Paper Maniac is closing, I decided that starting a new blog will help me transition from online retailer to an obsessed hobbyist. So here we are at my first post. This blog is still very much under construction, but should be up to speed fairly soon.

For my first post, I have a card that I made with today’s Splitcoast Sketch Challenge. I wanted something bright and colorful today – despite the heat.

The card base is Memory Box, which I just love for the white inside when it’s folded. This makes it so much easier to stamp your sentiment without adding more layers. The patterned paper is from a fun Kaisercraft paper pad called Party Animals. The balloons were stamped with a matching stamp set, colored in with Copics and cut out. I think this makes a fun birthday card for a child or adult.
